DEMAND FOR HIGH-SPEC OFFICE SPACE GROWS

30 October 2017

Towergate/Dawson Whyte Insurance has moved into new headquarters at Elizabeth House on the Holywood Road in a move that will see the amalgamation of the company’s Newtownards and Malone Road offices according to letting agents Osborne King. The 25,000 sq. ft., three-storey modern office building was bought in January 2017 by a private local investor, and since then has undergone a major refurbishment resulting in a high grade of finish.

Towergate/Dawson Whyte has taken the entire second floor of the building equating to 8,400 sq. ft.  The company, which also has offices in Dungannon and Larne, currently employs 80 people in Northern Ireland and is part of the Towergate Insurance group that employs over 4,000 people across the UK.

Commenting on the letting, Chris Sweeney of Osborne King said:” Having decided to combine their Newtownards and Belfast offices, Towergate Dawson Whyte found it difficult to source large, open-plan offices in Belfast of a sufficiently high quality with ample car parking.  Rarely does a modern building of this size with sufficient car parking outside the city centre come to the letting market, therefore Elizabeth House met the company’s needs having been newly-refurbished and possessing over 50 car parking spaces.  When the current owner acquired the building at the start of this year, there was only one tenant occupying one of the eight suites within the building.  It required an investor with vision and capital to create what are now highly desirable office suites within the east of the city, and since this letting, we have agreed a further letting of 4,200 sq. ft. on the first floor.”

Negotiations are in progress regarding the letting of a remaining 8,400 sq. ft. of space comprising two office suites.
